英語副詞的句法功能

1. 用作狀語

Look at the photo carefully. 仔細看看這張照片。

You’re driving too fast. 你開車開得太快了。

2. 用作表語

The meeting is over. 會議結(jié)束了。

Is anyone upstairs? 樓上有人嗎？

Is the radio on or off? 收音機是開著的還是關(guān)著的？

【注】在通常情況下，用作表語時不用副詞而用形容詞，如可說The woman is beautiful. 而不說 The woman is beautifully. 可說The cloth feels soft. 不能說 The cloth feels softly. 英語中用作表語的副詞主要是表地點的副詞以及某些與介詞同形的副詞，而且只能用于連系動詞be 后作表語，而不用于其他連系動詞后作表語，如可說He is here 或 He is abroad，但不能說He seems here 或 He seems abroad。

3. 用作賓語

It’s hot in here. 這里面很熱。

It’s not far from here. 從這兒去不遠。

I’ll stay at home tonight. 今晚我將呆在家里。

【注】副詞用作賓語的用法十分有限，通常只用作介詞賓語，并且只限于某些表示時間和地點的副詞，而且不同的副詞有不同的搭配特點，如 here和there 可與along, around, down, from, in, near, round, up 等介詞連用，但通常不與介詞to連用，如不說come to here, go to there 等(注：from here to there是例外)，而表地點的副詞abroad 則只與介詞from連用，不與其他介詞連用。

4. 用作賓語補足語

Ask him in, please. 請叫他進來。

We must try to help him through. 我們必須設(shè)法幫他渡過難關(guān)。

Sorry to have kept you up so late. 對不起，讓你這么晚不能睡覺。

【注】一般說來，能用作表語的副詞都可用作賓語補足語：

He went to see her but found that she was out. 他去看她，但發(fā)現(xiàn)她不在家。

He went to see her but found her out. 他去看她，但發(fā)現(xiàn)她不在家。

5. 用作定語

The people there were very friendly. 那兒的人很友好。

Do you know the people downstairs? 你認識樓下的人嗎？

The shops around are very cheap. 附近商店的東西很便宜。

【注】在通常情況下，副詞用作定語總是放在被修飾名詞之后，若置于修飾名詞之前，則通常被視為形容詞，如the upstairs room和the room upstairs 都表示“樓上的房間”，但前者的upstairs 前置，為形容詞；后者的upstairs后置，為副詞；又如the above passage 和the passage above都可表示“上面的段落”，但前者的above 前置，為形容詞；后者的above后置，為副詞。
