would與used to的意義和應用

1. would 和used to都表示過去的習慣行為，意思為：過去常常。would 表示過去某時間的意志、愿望和決心。如：

He would come to have a chat with us when he was free. 他有空時，常會過來跟我們聊天

He used to live in a cottage near the river. 他過去常住在河邊的一座小木房里。

2. would 往往強調過去的一種可能性,而不暗示現在的情況；而used to強調過去常這樣干，而現在不干了, 強調今惜對比。如：

5. would一般接表示動作的動詞，不能與表示狀態或情感、意識方面的詞連用，而used to無此限制。如：

6. would表示過去某一段時間常發生的事，一般要接具體的時間做狀語，而used to一般不一定要接具體時間做狀語。如：

7. used to 往往強調事實，而 would 常帶有主觀上的感情的色彩。如：

8. 含used to的句子，變為否定句或疑問句時，既可在used 后加not，或將 used 提到句首；也可在used to前面加don’t，或在句首加do，同時將used to改為use to。如：
