ablaze

一、ablaze的用法

1. “著火，起火(burning；on fire) ”，作表語(yǔ)。例如：

The house was ablaze in a few minutes. 房子幾分鐘就燒起來(lái)了。

The whole building was soon ablaze. 整座建筑物很快就燒起來(lái)了。

也可以作賓語(yǔ)補(bǔ)足語(yǔ)。例如：

We set the logs ablaze. 我們把這些木頭點(diǎn)著了。

2. “明亮；燦爛(very bright；glittering) ”，作表語(yǔ)。例如：

The palace was ablaze with lights. 那座宮殿燈火輝煌。

3. “非常激動(dòng)（very excited) ”解時(shí)，作表語(yǔ)。。例如：

His face was ablaze with anger. 他滿面怒容。

二、ablaze的搭配

1. be ablaze 燃燒。例如：

The living room was ablaze. The fire centered on a broken jar on the floor. 起居室著了火，地上有個(gè)破罐子，火焰在它的周?chē)�熊熊燃燒�?/SPAN>

2. set sth ablaze 點(diǎn)燃。例如：

A match is sufficient to set ablaze the lumber yard or the oil depot. 要使木材堆放處或石油儲(chǔ)存庫(kù)燃燒，一根火柴就夠了。

3. 可以說(shuō)quickly [soon, well等] ablaze，不能說(shuō)very ablaze。例如：

The wooden house was quickly [soon] ablaze. 這所木屋很快就燒起來(lái)了。

By the time firefighters were called the house was well ablaze.等給消防隊(duì)大電話時(shí)，這座房子已燒得差不多了。

4. ablaze with [lights, light, sunlight, the stars, butterflies, gems, jewels, medals won in action, diamonds, yellow ribbons, yellow autumn foliage, roses, the colors, tulips, wildflowers, flowers in bloom, autumn colors等]。例如：

He had never seen the house like this, ablaze with light and noisy with voices. 他從未見(jiàn)過(guò)這棟房子像現(xiàn)在這樣燈火輝煌，人聲鼎沸。

ablaze with anger [enthusiasm, excitement, joy等]  非常生氣[熱情，激動(dòng)，高興等]。例如：

Slim stood up, his eyes ablaze with joy. Slim站起來(lái)，眼睛里充滿喜悅的光芒。
