由一道否定轉(zhuǎn)移題所想起的

請看下面的題：

I __________ he won’t come to the party.

A. hope                 B. think                 C. believe              D. suppose

此題應選A，其余幾項欠妥。這里涉及否定轉(zhuǎn)移問題。如：

1. 當 I (We) think (believe, suppose...)之后的that從句是一個否定式句時，通常要將否定轉(zhuǎn)移到主句。如：

We don’t think he is wrong. 我們認為他沒有錯。

I don’t believe he is a thief. 我相信他不是賊。

I don’t suppose he will come. 他想他不會來。

有人認為，以上結(jié)構(gòu)若把否定放在從句上，從語法角度看也沒有錯，只是語氣比較生硬，所以人們習慣上不那樣用。

2. 動詞hope與上面提到的think, believe, suppose 等的用法剛好相反，當I hope 后接一個否定的從句時，則其否定詞習慣上要放在從句上，而不放在主句上。

我希望他不來。

正：I hope that he won’t come.

誤：I don’t hope that he will come.

我希望她不會討厭這些花。

正：I hope she doesn’t dislike the flowers.

誤：I don’t hope she dislikes the flowers.

3. 在簡略的否定答語中，也要分兩種情況：

(1) 對于think, believe, suppose等，通常有兩種情況：

—Is it raining this evening? 今晚會下雨嗎?

—I don’t suppose so. / I suppose not. 我看不會。

(2) 對于hope, 只有一種情況：

—Will he come? 他會來嗎?

—I hope not. 我希望他不來。(誤：I don’t hope so)
