far可修飾哪些成分

far用作副詞表示程度時，可用于修飾以下成分：

(1) 修飾形容詞，這類用法非常有限，主要用于修飾wrong, different, superior, short (of) 等。如：

You’re not far wrong. 你差不多對了。

This carpet is far superior to that one in quality. 這條地毯的質量遠勝過那一條。

This edition is far different from the earlier one. 這個版本與早先那個版本大不相同。

(2) 修飾副詞，這類用法也比較有限，主要用來修飾 away, off, out, back, behind等表示位置或距離的副詞，一般不用來修飾 quickly, sadly, happily等副詞。如：

The holidays are not so far off. 假期已經不那么遠了。

If winter comes, can spring be far behind? 冬天來了，春天還會遠嗎?

He never swam far out. He was afraid of getting cramp. 他從不游得很遠。他怕抽筋。

(3) 修飾動詞，這類比較不是很普通。如：

I far prefer swimming to cycling. 我喜歡游泳遠勝于騎自行車。

She far transcends the others in beauty and intelligence. 她才貌出眾。

(4) 介詞短語。如：

We danced far into the night. 我們跳舞跳到深夜。

As a scholar, he is far above me. 作為學者，他遠在我之上。

The small boy soon became tired and lagged far behind the rest of the walkers. 那小男孩兒不 久就走不動了，遠遠落在其他人的后面。

注意，far from的本義是“離……很遠”，可引申指“遠非”。如：

He lives not far from there. 他住的離那兒不遠。

This question is far from being settled. 這個問題遠沒解決。

(5) 修飾比較級，這是一種很常見的用法，其中的far與much意思相近。如：

She swims far better than I do. 她游泳要比我游得好多了。

Russian is far mole difficult than Spanish. 俄語比西班牙語難學多了。

His illness is far more serious than we thought. 他的病比我們想象的要嚴重得多。

(6) 修飾最高級，也可說成by far。如：

This is quite far the most expensive bicycle in the shop. 這是這家商店里最最貴的自行車。

She is far (=by far) the most intelligent student in the school. 她是學校里最聰明的學生。

(7) 由副詞too（太）引出的短語。如：

The holidays passed far too quickly. 假期過得太快了。

You ask far too many questions. 你問的問題實在太多了。

It’s far too cold to play tennis. 天氣實在太冷了，不能打網球。

You’re far too young to get married. 你太年輕了，不能結婚。
