vegetable的可數(shù)性及單復(fù)數(shù)用法

1. 無論表示作為植物看待的“蔬菜”還是表示作為食物看待的“蔬菜”，它通常都是可數(shù)的，且通常用復(fù)數(shù)形式。如：

Cut up the vegetables very fine. 把菜切得碎碎的。

Fresh vegetables are sold in this market. 這個(gè)市場(chǎng)售賣新鮮蔬菜。

I like cooked vegetables with all the natural juices still in. 我愛吃保持原汁的煮蔬菜。

2. 若表示一種“蔬菜”，可連用不定冠詞。如：

Spinach is a leafy green vegetable. 菠菜是一種綠葉菜。

Is the tomato a vegetable or a fruit? 蕃茄是蔬菜還是水果？

The potato is a vegetable, not a fruit. 土豆是一種蔬菜，不是水果。

若語義需要，也可連用most, many等。如：

Most vegetables are readily available at this time of year. 這季節(jié)大部分蔬菜都很容易買到。

We gave away many of the vegetables from our garden. 我們把自己園子里的很多蔬菜都送了人。

3. 若用于名詞前作定語，則要用單數(shù)。如：

We have a vegetable patch behind our house. 我們?cè)诜孔雍竺嬗幸恍�塊蔬菜地。

The bad weather has sent vegetable prices up. 天氣不好，導(dǎo)致到蔬菜價(jià)格上漲。
