poem與poetry的區別

1. poem的意思是“詩”，為可數名詞，可指具體的一首詩、兩首詩、幾首詩等；用作主語時，謂語動詞的數取決于poem的數（即poem為單數，謂語動詞用單數；poem為復數，謂語動詞用復數）。如：

This poem is worth learning by heart. 這首詩是值得記起來的。

His poems have been compared to those of the English Romantics. 他的詩歌被拿來與英國浪漫主義詩歌相提并論。

2. poetry的意思也是“詩”，但為詩的總稱，是不可數名詞；用作主語時，謂語動詞總是用單數。如：

This writer’s poetry reflects his love of nature. 該作者的詩反映出他熱愛自然。

Poetry has been composed since ancient times. 從古時起人們就開始創作詩歌了。

Poetry serves to stimulate the mind. 詩歌能激發心靈。
