quantity作主語時謂語用單數還是復數
1. 若單獨用quantity作主語，謂語動詞用單數。如：
It is used to emphasize that the quantity is very large. 它用于強調數量很大。
2. 若用于a great (large, small) quantity of…結構，其后主要接不可數名詞，但有時也接復數名詞；這類結構用作主語時，其謂語的數原則上與其中的名詞的數保持一致。如：
There are a small quantity of apples in the house. 房子里有少量的蘋果。
A large quantity of food was on the table. 大量的食物擺在桌上。
3. 若該結構變成(large) quantities of…這樣的形式，則當它用作主語時，其謂語動詞一律用復數(與其中名詞的數無關)。如：
Huge quantities of oil were spilling into the sea. 大量的石油滲到海里。
Large quantities of rice have been destroyed in the flood. 大量的莊稼在洪水中被毀壞了。
