attempt的用法與搭配

表示“企圖”“試圖”“嘗試”等，可用作動(dòng)詞或名詞：

1. 表示試圖做某事，其后通常不定式。如：

He attempted to leave but was stopped. 他試圖要走，但被攔住了。

She attempted to get in touch with them. 她企圖和他們聯(lián)系上。

在現(xiàn)代英語中，有時(shí)也接動(dòng)名詞，但不如接不定式普通。

2. 比較以下同義句型（注意后接名詞的情形）：

囚犯企圖逃跑，但沒有成功。

正：The prisoner attempted to escape, but failed.

正：The prisoner attempted an escape, but failed.

他沒有企圖回答最后一個(gè)問題。

正：He didn’t attempt to answer the last question.

3. 用作名詞，要表示做某事的企圖，其后通常接不定式或at doing sth。如：

He made an attempt to win [at winning] the first prize. 他試圖要獲頭獎(jiǎng)。

He failed in his attempt to finish [at finishing] it in time. 他企圖要及時(shí)完成它，沒失敗了。
