several的用法及修飾關(guān)系

1. 總是修飾復(fù)數(shù)名詞或單獨(dú)使用表示復(fù)數(shù)意義，用修飾主語(yǔ)或單獨(dú)用作主語(yǔ)時(shí)，謂語(yǔ)動(dòng)詞要用復(fù)數(shù)。如：

Several (of them) were broken.（它們當(dāng)中）有幾個(gè)破了。

Several people were injured. 有幾個(gè)人受了傷。

2. 一般不與 only 連用，遇此情況可用 a few。如：

這個(gè)班里只有少數(shù)孩子喜歡數(shù)學(xué)。

誤：Only several of the children in this class like maths.

正：Only a few of the children in this class like maths.

3. 與 other, such, more 等連用，通常要置于其前。如：

Can you give several other examples? 你能再舉幾個(gè)例子嗎?

You can meet several such people in one day. 一天之中你可碰到好幾個(gè)這樣的人。

He is expected to remain in hospital for several more days. 他還需在醫(yī)院多住幾天。

4. 用作形形詞時(shí)還有一個(gè)意思是“各自的”“不同的”，此時(shí)通常與物主代詞或定冠詞連用。如：

They said goodbye and went their several ways. 他們道別后就各自走了。

We are striving to reach an agreement which will satisfy the several interests of the parties concerned. 我們正在努力達(dá)成一個(gè)能滿足有關(guān)各方各自利益的協(xié)議。

但是，有時(shí)與物主代詞或定冠詞連用的several仍表示“幾個(gè)”，所以在理解時(shí)要注意結(jié)合句子語(yǔ)境。如：

The cough was one of her several nervous habits. 咳嗽是緊張時(shí)的幾個(gè)習(xí)慣性表現(xiàn)之一。

He fumbled with the several locks on his door. 他笨手笨腳地打開(kāi)門上的幾把鎖。
