other, others與another用法區(qū)別詳解

1. other的用法

(1) other 通常用于修飾復(fù)數(shù)名詞，有時(shí)也修飾不可數(shù)名詞。如：

Moral beauty ought to be ranked above all other beauty. 品德美應(yīng)列于其他美之上。

(2) 若要修飾單數(shù)可數(shù)名詞，則其前通常應(yīng)有the, this, that, some, any, each, every, no, none, one, or以及形容詞性物主代詞時(shí)。如：

Every member must bring one other person. 每一個(gè)會(huì)員必須帶一個(gè)人來(lái)。

There must be some other reason for him refusing to help. 他不予以幫助一定另有原因。

Our other branch is just a few doors down the road. 沿這條路再走幾家就是我們的另一個(gè)分店。

We have no other choice. 我們沒(méi)有別的選擇。

(3) 另外注意，無(wú)定冠詞的“other+復(fù)數(shù)名詞”表泛指，有定冠詞的“the other+復(fù)數(shù)名詞”表特指。

(4) 與數(shù)詞連用時(shí)，通常應(yīng)置于數(shù)詞之后。如：

Give me two other books. 給我兩本別的書(shū)吧(=另外給我兩本書(shū)吧)。

但是，若其前用了定冠詞，則可前可后。如：

Give me the other two books.=Give me the two other books. 給我其他那兩本書(shū)。

3. another 的用法

(1) another 用于泛指多個(gè)中的“另外一個(gè)”，若特指兩個(gè)當(dāng)中的另一個(gè)，要用the other。如：

Please close the other eye. 請(qǐng)把另一只眼睛也閉上。

(2) 后接名詞時(shí)，通常應(yīng)是單數(shù)，若修飾復(fù)數(shù)名詞，則復(fù)數(shù)名詞前應(yīng)有數(shù)詞或few等修飾。如：

China picked up another ten gold medals. 中國(guó)又獲得了10枚金牌。

I need another few days before l can make up my mind. 我還需幾天才能決定。

(3) 用于one another，原認(rèn)為要用于三者或三者以上，而用于兩者須用each other。但在現(xiàn)代英語(yǔ)中，兩者常可換用。若有必要，兩者均可用于所有格結(jié)構(gòu)。如：

Those two are always copying each other’s [one another’s] homework. 那兩個(gè)人總是互相抄襲作業(yè)。

(4) one有時(shí)可與another對(duì)照使用。如：

One (boy) wanted to read, another wanted to watch TV. 一個(gè)(男孩)想看書(shū)，另一個(gè)則想看電視。

4. others 與 some 對(duì)比使用

與some 對(duì)比使用時(shí)，用 others，此時(shí)它與 some 大致同義。如：

Some cleaned the windows, others mopped the floor. 有的擦窗戶，有的擦地板。

Some people enjoy exercise, others don’t. 一些人喜歡運(yùn)動(dòng)，而另一些人則不喜歡。

Some soldiers have died, others have been wounded. Still others are missing and perhaps have drowned. 有些士兵死亡了，有些受傷了。還有一些失蹤了，也許已經(jīng)淹死了。
