firm與firmly的用法區(qū)別與辨析

1. firm 的用法

firm 主要用作形容詞，意為“牢固的”“穩(wěn)固的”、 “堅(jiān)定的”等。如：

Prices are still firm. 物價(jià)仍然穩(wěn)定。

I have a firm belief in his honesty. 我堅(jiān)信他的誠(chéng)實(shí)。

You should be firm with them. 你應(yīng)該要嚴(yán)格要求他們。

The leg of this chair is firmer than the leg of that one. 這把椅子的腿比那把的結(jié)實(shí)。

You must hang the picture on a firm nail or it will fall. 你得把畫掛在牢固的釘子上，否則它會(huì)掉下來(lái)的。

She kept a firm hold of her son’s hand as they crossed the road. 橫過(guò)馬路時(shí)，她緊緊地牽著她兒子的手。

注意：firm 有時(shí)也用作副詞，但其用法十分有限，通常只能與 stand, hold, stay 等少數(shù)動(dòng)詞連用。如：

He stood firm against such threat. 他面對(duì)這樣的威脅立場(chǎng)堅(jiān)定。

He stood firm in his demands. 他堅(jiān)持他的要求。

Always hold firm to your beliefs. 一定要堅(jiān)守信仰。

但是，也有人認(rèn)為這樣用的 firm 仍為形容詞，其前的 stand, hold, stay 等為連系動(dòng)詞。

2. firmly 的用法

firmly 作為副詞，其用法十分廣泛。如：

 “I won’t go,” he said firmly. “我不去，”他堅(jiān)定地說(shuō)。

Fix the post firmly in the ground. 把這柱子牢固地固定在地上。

If we stand firm, I firmly believe we shall succeed. 只要我們立場(chǎng)堅(jiān)定，我堅(jiān)信我們會(huì)成功的。

盡管firmly作為程度副詞用法比較廣泛，但仍有些動(dòng)詞習(xí)慣上不能用它來(lái)修飾，如英語(yǔ)可說(shuō)I firmly believe(我堅(jiān)信)，但習(xí)慣上不能說(shuō)I firmly think。

3. 比較

hold firmly 通常用于本義，指“緊緊握住”；而 hold firm 則通常用于引申義，指堅(jiān)持原則、理想、信仰等。但 stand firm 可用于本義和引申義。
