考點3  將語態與情態動詞結合進行考查

被動語態與情態動詞連用時的基本結構形式是“情態動詞+be+過去分詞”。如：

This can be discussed later. 這可以以后再討論。

This man should be cast into prison. 這人應投入監牢。

The work must be done in an hour. 這項工作必須在一小時內干完。

Unless you wear boots you may be bitted by snakes. 若不穿靴子你可能被蛇咬。

【考例1】Don’t put off today’s work for tomorrow. I mean, today’s work ________ today. (河北中考題)

A. may do             B. must do             C. may be done   D. must be done

【分析】答案選D。由于“工作”與“做”之間為被動關系，故可先排除A和B；再根據Don’t put off today’s work for tomorrow（不要把今天的工作拖到明天）可知，選項D的意思比選項C的意思更符合句子語境。比較：may be done=可以被做，must be done=必須被做。

【考例2】—There is a lot of wind in North China.

—Well, more trees ________ every year to stop the wind. (四川自貢中考題)

A. must be planted                             B. can planted

C. should planted                              D. must plant(www.hz123456.com)

【分析】答案選A。首選應排除B和C，因為情態動詞后不能直接跟過去分詞；根據句意可知，“樹”與“種”之間為被動關系，即“樹”被“種”，所以應選被動語態，即選A。

考點4  考查特殊句式中的被動語態

在有些特殊句式中，雖然表面上看它是被動語態，但其實不是——它們要么已變成系表結構，要么已構成固定搭配，有其自己的特殊意思和用法。如：

She was married to a rich man. 她同一位有錢人結了婚。

句中的was married雖為被動形式，但已不是被動語態，而是系表結構，即其中的married已轉化為形容詞，在句中用作表語。

They are supposed to arrive before dark. 他們應該在天黑前到。

句中的are supposed雖為被動形式，也不是被動語態，are supposed to為固定搭配，意為“應該”。

He is used to looking after himself. 他已習慣于自己照顧自己。

句中的is used 雖為被動形式，也不是被動語態，be used to為固定搭配，意為“習慣于”。

【考例1】Students are ________ to speak loudly in the reading room. (吉林通化中考題)

A. told                   B. supposed         C. not supposed  D. allowed(www.hz123456.com)

【分析】答案選C。be supposed to雖然形式為被動語態，但其實不是，它是英語中的固定表達，其意為“應該”，又如：You’re supposed to be working. 你現在應當在工作。He is supposed to arrive on the five o’clock train. 他應該坐五點鐘的火車到。

【考例2】Her son ________ Coke, but now he ________ milk. (湖北恩施中考題)

A. used to drink; is used to drinking                               B. used to drinking; drinks

C. is used to drinking; used to drink                              D. is used to drink; is drinking

【分析】答案選A。used to的意思是“過去常常”，如：We used to play golf together. 我們過去常在一起打高爾夫球。be used to雖然形式上為被動語態，但事實上不是，它是一個固定表達，其意為“習慣于”，如：I’m used to getting up early. 我習慣早起。I’m used to this kind of life. 我已習慣于這樣的生活。
