minority作主語時謂語用單數還是復數

minority表示“少數”時，為集合名詞；單獨用作主語時，如果強調整體，謂語動詞用單數形式；如果強調個體，謂語動詞用復數形式（具體用法與majority大致同相）。如：

The minority is subordinate to the majority. 少數服從多數。

Only a minority of people support these new laws. 只有少數人支持這些新法令。

The nation wants peace; only a minority want the war to continue. 全國希望和平，只有少數人希望戰爭繼續下去。

Only a minority of British households do [does] not have a car. 英國只有少數家庭沒有汽車。
