◆connect v.

1. 表示“連接”，通常與介詞 with, to 連用。如：

Will you connect this wire to the television? 請你把這根電線和電視機連上好嗎?

A good student must connect what he reads with what hesees around him. 一個好學生必須將他所讀到的東西與他周圍所看到的東西聯系起來。

Please connect the hose with [to] the faucet. 請把膠皮管套在水龍頭上。

注：有時可用連詞 and 代替介詞 with, to。如：

A railway connects Beijing and (＝with/to) Shanghai. 北京和上海之間有鐵路相連。

2. 下列情況，通常用介詞 with。如：

(1) 表示關系方面的“聯系時：

He’s connected with our school. 他與我們學校有聯系。

He is connected with the Smiths. 他與史密斯家有姻親。

Mathematics is connected with astronomy. 數學與天文學有聯系。

(2) 表示汽車、火車、飛機等交通方面的“相通”、“銜接”時：

The trolleybus connects here with a bus for the airport. 這輛無軌電車與開往機場的公共汽車銜接。

This early bus from the village connects with the 8:30train. 這輛從村里開來的早班車與8:30的火車銜接。

◆consider v.

1. 表示“考慮”，其后可接名詞、動名詞或從句作賓語（但不能接不定式作賓語）。如：

Please consider my suggestion. 請考慮我的建議。

She is considering going to Europe. 她在考慮去歐洲。

雖然 consider(考慮)之后不能直接跟不定式作賓語，但卻可以接“疑問詞＋不定式”。如：

He considered how to answer. /He considered how he could answer. 他考慮如何回答。

但是不說：She is considering to answer (the question).

2. 表示“認為”、“把……看作”，比較以下同義句型：

我們認為他是我們的朋友。

正：We consider him (as) our friend.

正：We consider him (to be) our friend.

正：We consider that he is our friend.

注：后接不定式的復合結構作賓語時，其不定式通常為 to be, 有時也可能是行為動詞，但通常為完成式。如：

We consider him to have left. 我們認為他已離開。

注意這類句型變為被動語態：He is considered to have left.

◆content n.，adj. & v.

1. 用作名詞，表示“滿足”，是不可數名詞。如：

He takes content in nothing. 他這個人從不滿足。

2. 用作形容詞，表示“滿足的”或“滿意的”，只用作表語，其后多接不定式或介詞 with。如：

Are you content with your salary? 你對你的薪水滿意嗎?

I should be well content to stay here. 我很樂意呆在這兒。

若要用作定語，要用 contented(它也可用表語)。如：

There was a contented smile on his face. 他臉上露出了滿意的微笑。

3. 用作動詞，表示“使滿足”或“使滿意”，是及物動詞。如：

Nothing could content him. 什么也不能使他滿足。

We should never content ourselves with book knowledge only. 我們切不可只滿足于書本知識。(注意用介詞 with)

◆continue v.

1. 表示“繼續”，可指一直不停地繼續，也可指中斷后再繼續，其后可接不定式或動名詞。如：

He continued to write [writing] while in hospital. 他住院時他繼續寫作。

We continued working [to work] after the break. 休息后我們繼續工作。

有時后接名詞時可用介詞 with。如：

We will continue (with) the payments for another year. 我們這樣的報酬還要維持一年。

2. 比較 continue doing sth 與 continue by doing sth ：前者表示“繼續做某事”，后者表示“接著做某事”。如：

He continued reading (＝to read) all night. 他通霄在看書。

He talked about Keats, and continued by reading us apoem. 他談了濟慈，接著給我們朗誦了一首詩。

3. 可用作連系動詞，其后可接形容詞、介詞短語等。如：

We hope the weather will continue fine. 我們希望天氣繼續很好。

Mother continues in weak health. 母親身體仍然很虛弱。
