介詞后接動詞一定要用動名詞嗎

在通常情況下，介詞后接動詞要用動名詞，不用不定式。如：

He is good at diving. 他擅長跳水。

After swimming I felt cold. 游完泳我感到冷。

I’ m against saying anything. 我反對說話。

She kept herself from laughing. 她忍住沒笑。

He worried about making mistakes. 他擔心犯錯誤。

They’re thinking of moving to America. 他們想搬到美國去。

This is a tool for opening tins. 這是一個開罐頭的工具。

He left without paying his bill. 他沒有付賬就走了。

I have no experience in teaching English. 我沒有教英語的經驗。

They escaped by sliding down a rope. 他們是從一根繩子上滑下來逃走的。

但是，當表示“除……外”的介詞 except, but 后通常接不定式作賓語，且這個不定式有時帶to(若其前沒有動詞do)，有時不帶 to(若其前有動詞do)。如：

They desired nothing but to succeed. 他們只想成功。

They did nothing but complain. 他們老是一個勁地抱怨。

I can do everything except cook. 除了做飯我什么事都會做。

It had no effect except to make him angry. 除惹他生氣外，沒產生任何效果。
