directly的用法說明

1. 表示“直接地”，與“間接地”相對，指沒有中間環節的影響等。如：

The new law won’t directly affect us. 新的法律不會直接影響我們。

還可表示“直率地”“直截了當地”。如：

He answered me very directly and openly. 他非常坦率地回答了我。

He refused to say directly what he thinks. 他拒絕直截了當地說出他的想法。

2. 表示“恰好”“正好”。如：

Directly in front of them stood a great castle. 一座巨大的城堡就矗立在他們面前。

The man you are looking for is in the shop directly opposite. 你找的那個人就在對面的商店里。

3. 在英國英語中，既可表示“立即”“馬上”，也可表示“不久以后”。如：

Come here directly. 馬上過來。

I will be there directly. 我很快就到。

在沒有特定上下文的情況下，可能有歧義。如：

I will start directly. 我馬上動身（或我不久將動身）。

4. 在英國英語中，可用作連詞，與as soon as相似，通常位于主句之后，有時也可位于主句之前。如：

I went home directly I had finished work. 我一干完工作就回家了。

Directly I walked in, the door I smelt smoke. 我一進門，就聞見了煙味。

5. direct與directly均可用作副詞表示“徑直地”“直接地”，但direct 通常只位于動詞之后，而directly則可位于動詞之前或之后。如：
