用作情態動詞和助動詞的will

一、用作助動詞

will 用作助動詞，表示將來，用于構成將來時態。如：

She will be back in a minute. 她一會兒就回來。

I’ll carry your case for you. 讓我來給你提手提箱。

二、用作情態動詞

1. 表示意愿，其意為“愿意”“想要”。如：

Will you accept a cheque? 你收支票嗎?

2. 表示請求，意為“請……”“……好不好”。如：

Be quiet for a moment, will you? 你安靜一會兒，好嗎?

3. 表示可能性，意為“可能”“該是”“很可能”。如：

三、一條注意

根據英語語法，在時間或條件狀語從句中，謂語動詞習慣上要用一般現在時表示將來意義，而不能直接使用將來時態；但是，在條件狀語從句中，有時可用will表示意愿（不是表示時間）。如：

I’d be grateful if you will let me know soon. 如果你肯早點告訴我，我會感激不盡。

If you will sit down for a few moments (=Please sit down and) I’ll tell the manager you’re here. 請稍坐，我這就通知經理說您來了。

這樣用的 if you will... 可視為英語慣用表達，其意為“如果你愿意的話”“你要是……也行（未嘗不可）”。
