1. 引導(dǎo)名詞性從句
用于引導(dǎo)名詞性從句（主要是引導(dǎo)主語(yǔ)從句和賓語(yǔ)從句），其意相當(dāng)于anything that或everything that。如：
Whatever she did was right. 她做的一切都是對(duì)的。
He does whatever she asks him to do. 她要他做什么，他就做什么。
I will just say whatever comes into my mind. 我想到什么就說(shuō)什么。
2. 引導(dǎo)讓步狀語(yǔ)從句
用于引導(dǎo)讓步狀語(yǔ)從句，其意相當(dāng)于no matter what。如：
Whatever happens, don’t forget to write. 無(wú)論怎樣別忘了寫(xiě)信。
Whatever you say, I won’t believe you. 不管你說(shuō)什么，我決不相信你的話。
引導(dǎo)讓步狀語(yǔ)從句時(shí)，從句謂語(yǔ)有時(shí)可以用“may+動(dòng)詞原形”代替一般現(xiàn)在時(shí)。如：
Keep calm, whatever happens [may happen]. 無(wú)論發(fā)生什么事都要保持冷靜。
Whatever reasons he gives [may give], they can only be excuses. 無(wú)論他提出什么理由，那只可能是借口。
注意：
1. 有時(shí)還可省略狀語(yǔ)從句中的動(dòng)詞be。如：
He’ll come whatever the weather (is). 無(wú)論天氣如何，他都會(huì)來(lái)(www.hz123456.com)。
The building must be saved, whatever the cost (is). 一定要挽救這座建筑，不管花多大代價(jià)。
2. 有時(shí)whatever用作形容詞，在其后跟一個(gè)被修飾的名詞。如：
I am willing to pay whatever price you ask. 不管你要價(jià)多少，我都愿意付。
Take whatever magazines you want to read. 任何你想看的雜志都可以取閱。
