catch可以和fires搭配嗎？

請先看含有 catch fires 的四個(gè)句子：
1. 2010年普通高等學(xué)校招生全國統(tǒng)一考試（重慶卷）第29 題：The palace caught fires three times in the last century, and little of the original building now.
A. remains B. is remained C. is remaining D. has been remained
所給答案為 A。

所給答案為B。
從以上四個(gè)句子可以看出：前三個(gè)句子都認(rèn)為catch fires是正確的搭配，而最后一個(gè)句子卻認(rèn)為catch fires是不正確的搭配。 筆者認(rèn)為catch fire已經(jīng)成為習(xí)慣用語或成語(idiom)，有兩個(gè)意思：
①著火，開始燃燒 to begin to burn(多數(shù)詞典僅收錄這一含義)
②激動，異常興奮 to become excited。而fires 作為“多次火災(zāi)”解不能與catch 搭配使用。
首先，下列詞典把 catch fire 當(dāng)作習(xí)慣用語(idiom)：
1. Frederick T. Wood 著《英語動詞成語詞典》（English verbal idioms）(席學(xué)媛 安強(qiáng)譯 北京出版社 1984年5月第1版) P64: catch fire. Ignite (intransitive);start burning. 著火(不及物) ；開始燃燒
Trains had to be diverted when a timber yard beside the railway line caught fire. 當(dāng)鐵路線旁邊一家木柴廠著火的時(shí)候，火車不得不改道。
A wooden building can easily catch fore.木結(jié)構(gòu)建筑物容易著火。
2. 高凌主編《英語常用動詞詳解詞典》(北京出版社2002年2月第2版)P181：
【習(xí)語】catch fire (v.+ n.)
①著火，開始燃燒 to begin to burn
Cotton catches fire easily.棉花易燃。 Don’t smoke here, or the hay will catch fire.別在這里吸煙，不然干草會著火的。 An oil tanker caught fire and burned for one week. 一艘油輪著火了，燃燒了一星期。
②激動，異常興奮 to become excited
The audience caught fire at the speaker’s words and began to cheer.聽眾聽了演說者的演講非常激動，開始?xì)g呼。
3. 劉樂亭主編《當(dāng)代英語動詞搭配與用法大詞典》(現(xiàn)代出版社 2001年1月第一版)p130: catch fire著火 The wood was damp and would not catch fire.木柴受潮了，點(diǎn)不起火來。
4. 張道真編著的《英語常用動詞用法詞典》(重排本) (外語教學(xué)與研究出版社1996年2月第1版)p106: 7. 用于某些成語 catch fire著火
As the wood was wet, it won’t catch.木頭是濕的，點(diǎn)不著。
Straw catches fire easily. 稻草很容易著火。
The house caught fire while we were away.我們不在的時(shí)候房子著了火。
5. 曹焰主編《簡明英語用法指南》(知識出版社1996年8月第1版)p125: (5)注意下列習(xí)語的用法catch fire著火：The house caught fire while we were away.我們不在的時(shí)候房子著了火。
6. 吳瑾瑾《實(shí)用英語正誤詞典》(山東友誼出版社 2002年8月第1版)p270:
【誤】The wooden house caught a fire yesterday evening.
【正】The wooden house caught fire yesterday evening.
【說明】catch fire表示“著火”、“燃著”時(shí)，中間不要加冠詞。
7. 曹焰 主編《英語正誤用法指南》(商務(wù)印書館2005年10月第1版)p246: W The house caught on fire.
R The house caught fire.
catch fire是習(xí)語，表示“點(diǎn)燃”，“著火”[ignite; start to burn],中間無須再加介詞。
The wood caught fire.林子著火了。
Be careful with that match. That straw caches fire easily. 用火柴時(shí)要小心，那些稻草很容易著火。
We collected sticks to boil our kettle, buy they were damp and would not catch fire.我們撿了一些枝條想燒壺水，可是枝條太濕，點(diǎn)不著火。
8. 邢志遠(yuǎn)主編《英漢慣用語大詞典》(新世界出版社 1996年第一版)p326：catch fire 著火： his house caught fire last night.昨夜他的房子失火了。
