than any other 后接名詞用單數(shù)還是復(fù)數(shù)

老師您好，than any other后接單數(shù)還是復(fù)數(shù)？我在一本資料上看到這樣的解釋：

China is bigger than any countries in Africa.

China is bigger than any other country in Asia.

為什么 一個是復(fù)數(shù)的，一個是單數(shù)的？

■than any 后接可數(shù)名詞通常用單數(shù)。如：

You’ve got more mouth on you than any woman I’ve ever known. 你是我知道的最饒舌的女人。——摘自《新牛津英語雙解大詞典》

She can reckon up a bill faster than any calculator. 她算賬單的速度比計(jì)算器還要快。——摘自《劍橋高級英語詞典》（第2版）

但后接復(fù)數(shù)也是完全可能的。如：

The national interest is more important than any sectional or personal interests. 國家利益高于局部或個人利益。——摘自《劍橋高級英語詞典》（第2版）

■than any other 后接可數(shù)名詞通常用單數(shù)。如：

He possesses more talent than any other player. 他比別的選手都更有天賦。——摘自《新牛津英語雙解大詞典》

但用復(fù)數(shù)也是可能的，只是相對要少見得多。如下面一句摘自《朗文當(dāng)代英語辭典》(2003年第4版)：
