I used to share a room with my sister. 我過去和我妹妹合住一間房。　　

另外，有時be used to是動詞use的被動式，其意為“被用于”，此時的to為不定式符號。如：　　

Scales are used to measure how heavy things are. 秤用來衡量東西有多重。

This book is useful to young students. 這本書對年輕學(xué)生有益。　　

Don’t throw away these books. They might be useful to you in the future. 別把這些書扔掉，它們也許將來會對你有用。　　

【注】表示對某人有用，useful 后可用介詞 to，也可接 for。如：　　

The dictionary is useful for [to] beginners. 這本詞典對初學(xué)者有用。　　

What he said is useful to [for] us. 他說的話對我們很有用。　　

若表示對某一目的有用，通常要用介詞for。如：　　

That implement is useful for many purposes in the kitchen. 那種設(shè)備在廚房里可用于多種目的。　　

若后接動名詞表示在某一方面有用，其后通常接介詞in或for。如：　　

Computers are useful in compiling statistics. 計算機(jī)在統(tǒng)計數(shù)據(jù)方面很有用。　　

She was very useful in dealing with foreign visitors. 她很擅長與外賓打交道。　　

It’s a skill that is useful for doing your job. 那是一種對做好你的工作很有用的技巧。
