■as a result of

as a result of為短語(yǔ)介詞，后跟名詞、代詞等，意為“由于……的原因”相當(dāng)于because of，可置于句首或句末； as a result為副詞用法，意為 “因此，結(jié)果” ,在句中需用逗號(hào)停頓。如：

The train was delayed as a result of the heavy rain. 由于大雨的緣故，火車晚點(diǎn)了。

He got up very late today. As a result, he missed the first bus. 他今天起晚了，結(jié)果沒趕上頭班車。

注意：in consequence of 與as a result of 同義，“由于……的緣故”，in consequence 與as a result 同義，“因此，結(jié)果”，在句中需用逗號(hào)停頓。如：

The flight was delayed in consequence of fog. 因?yàn)殪F該航班誤點(diǎn)。

= It was foggy, and as a result (in consequence), the flight was delayed.
