■in form 在形式上；競技狀態(tài)良好，精神健旺

The words “elevator” and “l(fā)ift” are different in form but identical in meaning. elevator與lift形式相異但意義相同。

If she is in form, she can win the match easily. 如果她競技狀態(tài)良好，她可以輕易嬴得這場比賽。

The speaker was in good form tonight. 那位演說者今晚情緒很好。

■in front 在前面

Please sit in front. 請坐在前面。

Some of the children ran on in front. 孩子當(dāng)中有一些跑在前頭。

■in future 今后，以后

Please be punctual in future. 今后請準(zhǔn)時(shí)。

Please try to be more careful in future. 以后可要小心點(diǎn)兒。

Try to live a better life in future. 今后要努力過更好的生活。

■in hand 在手中，在控制下，在處理中

I still have some money in hand. 我手中還有些錢。

We have the situation well in hand. 我們完全控制住了局面。

The work is in hand and will soon be completed. 這工作在進(jìn)行中，不久即可完成。

■in haste 匆忙地，草率地

Bring the doctor in haste. 快把醫(yī)生請來。

Marry in haste and repent at leisure. 草率結(jié)婚后悔多。

■in ink 用墨水（寫）

Please write in ink, not pencil. 請用墨水筆寫，別用鉛筆寫。

Please sign your name in ink rather than pencil. 請用墨水簽名，別用鉛筆。

■in kind 在種類方面，實(shí)質(zhì)上；以實(shí)物（償付）；以同樣的方法

They differ in size but not in kind. 這些東西的區(qū)別只是大小不同而實(shí)質(zhì)一樣。

When he had no money, the farmer sometimes used to pay me in kind. 那個(gè)農(nóng)民沒有現(xiàn)款時(shí)，有時(shí)候給我些東西抵賬。

She wouldn’t take any money but said I could pay her in kind by lending her the car. 她不愿收錢，并說我可以把車借給她作為報(bào)答。

■in line 排成一行；有秩序；一致，協(xié)調(diào)

The recruits were standing in line to be examined. 新兵正排成一行準(zhǔn)備接受體檢。

The police kept the crowd in line. 警察維持人群的秩序。

■in love 相愛

They’re very much in love (with each other). 他們（彼此）愛得很深。

They fell in love and were married within two months. 他們墮入愛河，兩個(gè)月之內(nèi)就結(jié)了婚。

■in luck 運(yùn)氣好

Bill was in luck when he found the money on the street. 比爾的運(yùn)氣真好，他在街上找到了丟失的錢。

I was in luck—the shop had the book I wanted. 我真走運(yùn)，這家商店有我想買的那本書。

■in miniature 小規(guī)模，小型，小比例

Paris is France in miniature. 巴黎是法國的縮影。

She is just like her mother in miniature. 她簡直是她母親的縮影。
