possession 的用法與短語搭配

1. 表示“擁有”“占有”等，是不可數名詞。比較以下各組句子有無修飾語（定冠詞或物主代詞等）所導致的含義上的區別（主動或被動）：

這房子是李先生的。

正：Mr Li was in possession of the house.

正：The house was in the possession of Mr Li.

他得了一大筆財產。

正：He came into possession of a large fortune.

正：A large fortune came into his possession.(www.hz123456.com)

注：take possession of 和 have possession of 這兩個結構中通常不用冠詞。如：

He has had possession of the house for ten years. 他擁有這房子已有10年了。

The policeman took possession of the thief’s bag. 警察拿下了那個小偷的包。

2. 表示“財產”“所有物”等，是可數名詞，但通常要用復數形式。如：

He has few possessions. 他的財產很少。

He is a man of great possessions. 他是個大財主。

He lost all his possessions in the fire. 他在火災中失去了他所有的財產。
