used to用法的五大注意點(diǎn)

一注意其基本用法

used to的意思是“過(guò)去經(jīng)常”“以前常常”，其后接動(dòng)詞原形。如：

Life here is much easier than it used to be. 這里的生活比過(guò)去容易多了。

It used to be believed that sugar could decay the teeth. 過(guò)去人們認(rèn)為糖會(huì)腐蝕牙齒。

Our company used to do business with theirs. 我們公司過(guò)去和他們的公司常有業(yè)務(wù)往來(lái)。

My parents used to live in South America and I used to fly there from Europe in the holidays.我雙親常在南美洲住,假期里我常從歐洲乘飛機(jī)到那里去。

—Do you play golf? 你打高爾夫球嗎?

— No, but I used to. 不打，但我過(guò)去打。

We used to go camping every summer when we were students. 我們當(dāng)學(xué)生時(shí)每年夏天我們都去野營(yíng)。

二注意used to的否定式

used to的否定式直接在used后加not構(gòu)成或借助動(dòng)詞did構(gòu)成。如：

I used not / usedn’t to enjoy listening to rock music. 我過(guò)去不喜歡聽搖滾音樂(lè)。

My mother didn’t use to be so forgetful. 我媽媽原來(lái)不是這么健忘的。

三注意used to的疑問(wèn)式

used to的疑問(wèn)式，直接將used置于句首構(gòu)成疑問(wèn)式，或借助動(dòng)詞did構(gòu)成。如：

Did you use to play football on the playground? 你以前常在操場(chǎng)踢球嗎？

There used to be some pine trees here, usedn’t there? 這里原來(lái)長(zhǎng)著許多松樹，是不是？

Used you to make the fairy stories up out of your own head? 你曾經(jīng)自己杜撰童話故事嗎？

You used to go there, usedn’t / didn’t you? 你過(guò)去常到那兒去，是嗎?

Where did you use to live? 你過(guò)去是住哪兒的?

四要注意容易混淆的三個(gè)used

(1) used to 意為“過(guò)去經(jīng)常”，其中的 to 是不定式符號(hào)，后接動(dòng)詞原形。 如：

We used to go there every year. 我每年都去那兒。

(2) be used to 意為“習(xí)慣于”，其中的to是介詞，后接動(dòng)詞要用動(dòng)名詞。如：

He is used to glancing over newspapers after supper. 他習(xí)慣吃過(guò)晚飯后瀏覽一下各種報(bào)紙。

After three weeks she had got used to the extreme heat. 三個(gè)星期后她就適應(yīng)酷熱的環(huán)境了。

(3) be used to 有時(shí)可能是動(dòng)詞 use 的被動(dòng)語(yǔ)態(tài)結(jié)構(gòu), 意為“被用來(lái)”，其中的 to 為不定式符號(hào)，其后要接動(dòng)詞原形。如：

Nylon is used to make stockings. 尼龍被用來(lái)造襪子。

五要注意used to 與would的用法比較

兩者都表示過(guò)去的習(xí)慣。當(dāng)表示過(guò)去習(xí)慣性的動(dòng)作時(shí)可互換，如：

When we were children we would / used to go skating every winter. 我們小時(shí)候，每年冬天都去溜冰。

(1) used to表示過(guò)去的狀態(tài)，would表示過(guò)去反復(fù)的動(dòng)作。如：

She used to be a quiet girl. 她以前是一個(gè)文靜的姑娘。

He is not what he used to be. 他已不是從前的他了。

(2) used to表示過(guò)去跟現(xiàn)在對(duì)照，其含義為“現(xiàn)在已不”。如：

He doesn’t smoke these days, but he used to. 他現(xiàn)在不抽煙，但以前是抽的。

There used to be a hospital here. 這兒過(guò)去是一家醫(yī)院。
