chance后接不定式和動名詞的用法區(qū)別

chance之后既可接不定式也可接動名詞，但有區(qū)別：

(1) 表示碰巧做某事，其后接不定式。如：

I chanced to be passing when he got injured 他受傷時我碰巧路過那里。

I chanced to see your brother in the street. 我碰巧在街上看到你的弟弟。

She chanced to be in when he called.=It chanced that she was in when he called. 他打電話時碰巧她在家。

(2) 表示冒險(xiǎn)做某事或冒著發(fā)生某事的危險(xiǎn)，則后接動名詞。如：

We’ll have to chance meeting an enemy patrol. 我們不得不冒著可能遇上敵人巡邏兵的危險(xiǎn)。

I stayed hidden; I couldn’t chance coming out. 我還是躲藏著，我不能冒險(xiǎn)出去。

He chanced climbing the cliff without a safety belt. 他冒險(xiǎn)不系安全帶去攀爬峭壁。
