-ed形容詞與-ing形容詞的用法與比較

一、-ed形容詞

所謂-ed形容詞，就是指以后綴-ed結(jié)尾的形容詞，如amused, amazed, annoyed, astonished, bored, delighted, disappointed, excited, frightened, inspired, interested, moved, pleased, puzzled, shocked, terrified, surprised, worried等，這類形容詞通常用于說明人，不用于說明事物。如：

She has an amused twinkle in her eye(s). 她高興得雙目熠熠發(fā)亮。

All who heard the story were amazed. 聽到這個(gè)故事的人都感到吃驚。

The membership is [are] very annoyed at your suggestion. 會(huì)員們對你的建議甚為惱火。

I was astonished when I heard the hospital had burnt down. 當(dāng)我聽到那所醫(yī)院被燒毀時(shí)，我大為驚訝。

I’m bored by history—dates and battles and all that stuff. 我讓歷史科給煩透了——那些日期、戰(zhàn)爭之類的事。

He was so delighted that the tears came into his eyes. (D32) 他是那樣高興，他眼中有了淚水。

My parents will be disappointed in[with] me if I fail in the exam. 要是我考試不及格，我父母會(huì)對我感到失望的。

The audience is [are] always very excited by a wonderful goal. 一個(gè)精彩的進(jìn)球總會(huì)使觀眾們非常激動(dòng)。

Tina was frightened, but she stayed calm. 蒂娜嚇了一跳，但仍保持鎮(zhèn)靜。

Inspired by her example, other zoologists have begun working with apes in the wild. 受她的事例的激勵(lì)，其他動(dòng)物學(xué)家開始了對野生大猩猩的研究。

The child was terrified of being left alone in the house. 那孩子因被單獨(dú)留在家里而害怕。

He had a surprised expression on his face. 他臉上露出了驚訝的表情。

I was worried about the hotel bill, but in the event I had enough money to pay. 我一直擔(dān)心旅館的費(fèi)用, 結(jié)果我的錢足夠。

二、-ing 形容詞

所謂-ing形容詞，就是指以后綴-ing結(jié)尾的形容詞，如amusing, amazing, annoying, astonishing, boring, disappointing, exciting, frightening, inspiring, interesting, moving, puzzling, shocking, surprising, terrifying, worrying等，主要用于說明事物，表示事物的性質(zhì)或特征。如：

She is amusing to be with. 和她在一起很有意思。

I have an amusing piece of news to tell you. 我有一條很有趣的消息告訴你。

It is amazing how one can conceive such an idea. 能想出這樣的主意是令人驚異的。

It is annoying, but I can’t be bothered to go to the trouble of making an official complaint. 這很令人討厭，但我沒有工夫去作出正式的投訴。

It was astonishing to everybody that the court had made such a decision. 法庭作出這樣的判決，所有人都感到很驚訝。

What a boring book! 多沒意思的書啊！

I think his lecture is boring. 我認(rèn)為他的講演令人厭煩。

Losing both the Cup and the League is doubly disappointing. 在杯賽和聯(lián)賽中雙雙失敗真是令人失望透頂。

Watching the basketball match between the two teams was really exciting. 觀看這兩個(gè)球隊(duì)的籃球賽實(shí)在是激動(dòng)人心。

Fierce animals, such as the lion and bear, are very frightening when they attack. 像獅子和熊一類的猛獸在進(jìn)攻時(shí)是很可怕的。
