instruction的常見用法及相關(guān)可數(shù)性

1. 表示“講授”“指導(dǎo)”“教導(dǎo)”等，是不可數(shù)名詞。如：

Over 500 pupils are receiving instruction here. 500多名小學(xué)生在這兒接受教育。

表示在某人的指導(dǎo)下或接受指導(dǎo)，用介詞 under。如：

We work under Mr Smith’s instruction. 我們在史密斯先生的指導(dǎo)下工作。

用于under instruction，表示“在接受教育”。如：

He’s not trained yet; he’s still under instruction. (=being instructed) 他還未訓(xùn)練成熟；還在接受教育。

2. 表示“命令”“指示”等，是可數(shù)名詞，但多用復(fù)數(shù)形式。如：

Since it is an instruction, I will carry it out. 既然是命令，我遵照執(zhí)行。

表示做某事的指示或命令，后接不定式或 that 從句。如：

We got no instructions to leave the city. 我們沒接到離開這座城市的指示。

We received instructions that we (shall, should) arrest him. 我們接到了逮捕他的命令。

表示按照某人的指示或奉某人的命令，通常用介詞 on。如：

I did it on his instructions. 我是奉他的指示做此事的。

有時(shí)表示的“指示”，其實(shí)是指“指路”。如：

He followed the instruction to walk along a certain street where I picked him up. 他照吩咐沿某一條街走，我在那里接他上了車。

用于under instructions，表示“奉命”“接到指示”。如：

I’m under instructions not to say anything. 我奉命不得發(fā)表任何言論。

3. 表示“說明”“須知”等，通常只用復(fù)數(shù)形式。如：

I have read the instructions but I don’t understand them. 我已經(jīng)看了說明，但沒看懂。

When it is taken according to the instructions, the drug has no side effects. 若按說明服用，本藥無任何副作用。

若用于名詞前作定語，用單數(shù)。如：

I lost the instruction book and so I had to find out how to use the machine by trial and error. 我把說明書丟失了，結(jié)果只得通過不斷摸索才弄懂怎樣使用這部機(jī)器。
