well表示強(qiáng)調(diào)的五類(lèi)搭配 作者:陳根花(湖南) 來(lái)源:《第二課堂(高中版)》,2013年第09期(第31—36頁(yè)) 副詞well的基本義是“好”,主要用于修飾動(dòng)詞。如: Did you sleep well last night? 你昨晚睡得可好? She copes very well under pressure. 壓力之下,她應(yīng)付得很好。 He played well in the second half of the match. 他在比賽的下半場(chǎng)表現(xiàn)得很好。 但除此之外,well還可表示強(qiáng)調(diào)或加強(qiáng)語(yǔ)氣,主要有以下幾種搭配: 一、修飾形容詞 能用well修飾以加強(qiáng)語(yǔ)氣的形容詞不多,比較常見(jiàn)的有ablaze, able, accustomed, advanced, aware, content, prepared, qualified等。如: He is well able to take care of himself. 他很會(huì)照顧自己。 I shall be well content to do so. 我將很高興這樣做。 He was well accustomed to hard work. 他早已習(xí)慣了艱苦工作。 Smokers are well aware of the dangers to their own health. 吸煙的人都知道吸煙對(duì)自身健康的危害。 My father was well qualified to act the part of a head teacher. 當(dāng)時(shí)我爸爸十分勝任校長(zhǎng)一職。 It is obvious to the students that they should get well prepared for their future. 很顯然,學(xué)生應(yīng)該為他們的將來(lái)做好準(zhǔn)備。(天津卷) By the time firefighters were called the house was well ablaze. 消防隊(duì)員接到火警電話時(shí),房子已是一片火海。 二、修飾副詞 能用well修飾以加強(qiáng)語(yǔ)氣的副詞也很有限,比較常見(jiàn)的有away, back, down, forward, up等。如: They were well down in front. 他們坐得很靠前。 Sales are well up on last year. 銷(xiāo)量比去年大幅增加。 He leaned well forward in his chair. 他坐在椅子上身體很向前靠。 The house is set well back from the road. 這座房子離公路挺遠(yuǎn)。 Take my tip and keep well away from that place. 聽(tīng)我的勸告,離那個(gè)地方遠(yuǎn)遠(yuǎn)的。 三、修飾情態(tài)動(dòng)詞 能用well加強(qiáng)語(yǔ)氣的情態(tài)動(dòng)詞主要是can, could, may, might。如: 1. can well:意思是“完全能夠”“完全可以”“有充分理由”。如: She can well answer such questions. 她完全能夠那樣的問(wèn)題。 I can well understand how sorry he was then. 我能充分了解當(dāng)時(shí)他是如何地難過(guò)。 2. could well:意思是“很可能”“完全能夠”“有充分理由”。如: The crisis could well place the relationship at risk. 這場(chǎng)危機(jī)可能會(huì)使這一關(guān)系有破裂的危險(xiǎn)。 This election result could well lead to further bloodshed. 這個(gè)選舉結(jié)果很可能導(dǎo)致再發(fā)生流血沖突。 she could well afford to pay for the reception herself. 她能夠很容易自己支付招待會(huì)的費(fèi)用。 注意句式It could well be that…(很可能……)。如: It could well be that he has a real vocation. 很可能他是找到了自己真正的使命。 It could well be that rich people treasure peace more highly than poor people. 很可能富人比窮人更珍惜和平。 3. may well:意思是“很可能”“有充分理由”。如: check the joints — they may well need renewing. 檢查一下接頭——它們很可能需要更換了。 Liza may well not want to go on the trip—she hates traveling. 莉莎很可能不想去旅行——她討厭旅行。(全國(guó)卷) 注意句式It may well be that…(很可能……)。如: It may well be that the train is delayed. 火車(chē)很可能會(huì)晚點(diǎn)。 It may well be that the information is not available. 很有可能無(wú)法得到此信息。 |
