■在got within half a mile of London 這類表達中，習慣上要用of，本人好像沒有見過用from的例子。但如果不是這類表達，則可能用from。如下面的句子均摘自英語原版詞典：　　

The house is five miles from the town. 這房子離市鎮有5英里路。　　

We could see a boat about a mile from shore. 我們可以看到離岸1英里處有只小船。　　

■嚴格說來，coloured 和 colourful 作定語是有區別的：　　

coloured 的意思是“彩色的, 有色的”，即 having a colour other than black or white（除黑白兩色之外的其他顏色）。如：coloured flags（彩旗），coloured chalk（彩色粉筆），等等。　　

而 colourful 的意思是“色彩鮮艷，多色的，豐富多彩的”等，即 having bright colours or a lot of different colours（有鮮艷的顏色或多種不同顏色）。如：colourful wings（五顏六色的翅膀），colourful clouds（彩云），等等。　　

但 the colored lights 和 the colorful lights基本同義，都表示“彩旗”，不過在實際運用中，前者比后者普通（即用得多）。
