■a little 與 a little of 的區別：　　

1. 直接修飾名詞時用 a little，不能用 a little of。如：　　

He knows a little French. 他懂一點點法語。　　

Put just a little sugar in the tea. 茶里放點兒糖。　　

There’s a little time for discussion. 還有一點時間進行討論。　　

She bought a few eggs and a little milk. 她買了幾個雞蛋和一些牛奶。　　

2. 修飾帶有限定詞（如物主代詞、指示代詞等）的名詞時，要用 a little of，不能用a little。如：　　

I taste a little of this wine. 我嘗了一點兒這種酒。　　

Give me a little of that bread. 給我一點那種面包。　　

He sent us a little of his money. 他把他的錢寄了一點兒給我們。　　

I would appreciate a little of your time. 謝謝你給我一點時間吧。　　

直接用作代詞前也只能用 a little of，不能用 a little。如：　　

He knows a little of everything. 他什么都懂一點兒。　　

I only need a little of them. 我只需要其中的一點點。　　

另外，修飾名詞性從句時也要用 a little of，不能用 a little。如：　　

I received only a little of what they owe. 他們只還了我很小一部分欠款。

當然，如果不是修飾名詞，而是用修飾形容詞、副詞、動詞、介詞短語等，或單獨用作主語、賓語等，都只能用 a little，不能用 a little of。如：

I feel a little cold. 我感到有點冷。　　

He’s feeling a little better. 他感覺好些了。　　

In that case come a little earlier. 既然那樣，就早些來。　　

He is now a little over fifty. 他今年五十剛出頭。　　

A little will do. 一點兒就行。　　

Can you move along a little? 你可以往那邊挪一挪嗎?　　

I need to get away and rest up a little. 我需要離開，稍稍休息一下。　　

■ produce less of its waste 和 produce less waste 都可以說，從語法上看都是正確的，但兩者意思有所區別：produce less of its waste 的特指意味較濃，指的是“某種廢棄物產生得更少”； produce less waste 并無特指意味，它的意思是“產生更的廢棄物”。
