關于否定的范圍是一個比較復雜的問題，它受多種因素的影響，比如與句子語境有關，與特定的句式或詞語有關，等等。　　

She didn’t speak for long. 她的講話不長。（not否定for long，不是否定speak；此句的意思是：She only spoke for a short time.）　　

She didn’t speak for a long time. 她好久沒有說話。（not否定speak；此句的意思是：She was silent for a long time.）　　

He didn’t work for long. 他沒有工作多久。(=He soon stopped working.)　　

He didn’t work for a long time. 他好久沒有工作。(=He was unemployed for a long time.)　　

你的例子不夠典型：　　

He didn't walk across the park. 其中的 not有可能是否定across the park（此時的句意是：他沒有走過公園，可能只走了其中的一半或一部分），也可能是否定walk across the park（此時的句意是：他沒有過去公園，指的一點也沒有走過）。順便說一句，句中的across似乎改用through會更好，因為公園通常有樹，是一個“立體”的東西；當然如果這個公園沒什么樹，只是一些草坪，自然是用across。　　

I won't say more than I know. (not 否定more than I know, 不否定say)　　

You can't be too careful. (not 否定too careful)
