那要看情況，比如，如果是“獨一無二”的職位，則可以不加。如：

For two years he was head of a county. 有兩年他當縣長。

They elected him president of the society. 他們選他為協會會長。

但即使如此，加冠詞也是可能的。如：

　Wilson　 became (the) President of the 　　U. S. A.　　 威爾遜當了美國總統。（見《張道真英語語法》第341頁）
