how far is your home from your school ?
it's 20 kms away from my school . 這句中的away 可以省略么？ away 在表示距離的時候怎么用？
■ away 可以省略。如Swan編著的《英語用法指南》上就有這樣一句：
They lived many miles from the town. 他們住的地方離鎮(zhèn)子好幾英里遠。
又如《牛津高階英漢雙解詞典》第四版也有這樣一句：
It’s two miles to the beach. 離海濱有兩英里遠。
■ away 表示距離時，可以連用具體的距離。如：
The gun was inches away from his face. 槍都快貼上他的臉了。
He lives three blocks away from here. 他住的地方與此處相隔三條街。
The sea is 2 miles away from the hotel. 大海距旅館2英里。
也可以不連用具體的距離。如：
The two women were sitting as far away from each other as possible. 那兩個女人坐在離對方盡可能遠的地方。
I was anxious to get him here, away from family and friends. 我急于把他帶到這兒，遠離家人和朋友。
