European history 不用冠詞，因為 history 作為不可數名詞，當表示泛指意義時，其前習慣上不用冠詞。
the history of Europe 之所以用冠詞，是因為 history 后帶有限制性定語（of Europe），類似的如：the history of China , the history of of Japan , etc.
