◆nice adj.

1. 表示“友好的”、“好心的”，注意以下正誤句型：

你來看我，實在太好了。

正：You are very nice to come and see me.

正：It’s very nice of you to come and see me.

誤：That’s very nice of you to come and see me.

注：以上各句句首的 it為形式主語，不能改為 that；但是若以上句型后面不出現不定式，那么句首的 it 也可換為 that。如：

你太好了。

正：It’s very nice of you.

正：That’s very nice of you.

表示對某人友好，后接介詞 to。如：

Try to be nice to my father when he visits. 我父親到這里來時要盡量對他好些。

2. 表示“令人愉快的”(=pleasant)，注意以下正誤句型：

到陌生地方去玩真是有意思。

正：It is nice to visit new places.

正：It is nice visiting new places.

正：New places are nice to visit.

誤：New places are nice to be visited.

3. 用于 nice and, 相當于 very。如：

It’s nice and warm by the fire. 坐在火邊暖烘烘的。

You’ll have to get up nice and early. 你得起床很早。

4. 在口語中，nice 是一個使用頻率很高的詞。如：

It’s a nice day. 天氣很好(談論天氣)。

Have a nice day. 祝你快樂(上午分別時的祝愿語)。

Nice to see you (again). 見到你真高興(熟人或朋友之間見面時的慣用問候語)。

Nice seeing you. 真高興與你相見(分別時用語)。

◆night n.

基本義為“晚上”、“夜間”，嚴格說來有以下三層意思：

1. 與day(白天)相對，指日落到日出之間的這段時間，可譯為“夜晚”、“夜間”。如：

We sleep during the night and work during the day. 我們夜晚睡覺，白天工作。

2. 與 evening 同義，指日落到就寢這段時間，可譯為“傍晚”、“黃昏”。如：

They didn’t reach home before night. 他們天黑才到家。

3. 指就寢到日出這段時間，可譯為“夜里”。如：

The man woke up twice in the night. 這個人夜里醒過兩次。

◆none pron. & adv.

1. 用作代詞，以下用法要注意:

(1) 可指可數名詞，也可指不可數名詞。用于“none of ＋名詞”時，該名詞前必須要用表特指的限定詞(如 the, my, these 等)如：

He likes none of these books. 這些書他一本也不喜歡。

None of the food was left. 沒剩一點食物。

注：指可數名詞時，只能指三者或三者以上，不能指兩者。如：

正：Neither of my parents went there. 我父母都沒去那兒。

誤：None of my parents went there.

(2) 用作主語時，若指不可數名詞，謂語動詞用單數；若指可數名詞，謂語可用單數(較正式)，也可用復數(用于非正式文體，且更符合慣用法)。如：

None of the money is mine. 這筆錢沒有一點是我的。

None of the boys like [likes] it. 孩子們誰也不喜歡它。

3. 用于類似祈使句的結構中。如：

None of that! 不許那樣!

None of your business! 不關你的事!

2. 用作副詞，主要用來修飾以下結構：

(1) “the＋比較級”，意為“并不因為……更……”。如：

I’m afraid I’m none the wiser for your explanation. 恐怕你的解釋沒使我有所開竅。

(2) “too 或 so＋形容詞”，意為“不太”或“一點也不”。如：

He’s none so fond of her. 他并不十分喜歡她。

The salary they pay me is none too high. 他們付給我的薪水一點也不高。
