      (46) terrific 極好的;非常棒的;了不起的

      "I thought it was terrific that he came and talked to our staff, "says Louise Shaw, executive director of Nexus Contemporary Art Center.

      (47) timely及時的;適時的

      It is timely that we have concentrated on improving our performance because our market place is becoming more competitive.

      (48) understandable可以理解的,正常的,合情理的

      So it is understandable that we have this coverage.

      (49) useful有用的;可用的;有益的

      It is useful that this study was able to get outcomes rated and groupings ranked.

      (50) wise 明智的,高明的

      Well, Ted, it’s wise that we always are vigilant.

      (51) wonderful精彩的;絕妙的;極好的

      It is wonderful that we have so many diets, since every disease requires a specific diet.

      4. THE’AWFUL’ GROUP  

      These adjectives indicate that the event or situation indicated by the that-clause is a bad or undesirable one. 例如:

      (1) absurd荒謬的;荒唐的;不合理的

      I think it’s absurd that Mr. Hernandez wants to blame the United States for its addiction to drugs and to say that Mexico is complaining about it.

      (2) annoying令人生氣的;令人厭煩的

      It was annoying that she’d expect me to leave my friends for no reason other than that she wanted me to.

      (3) appalling令人震驚的;使人驚駭的;極為惡劣的

      In fact, I think it is appalling that anyone would suggest that a family would try to commercialize or capitalize off of their tragedy.

      (4) awful使人不愉快的;令人震驚的;可怕的;極壞的

      It was awful that you couldn’t change things about yourself by an act of will.

      (5) awkward使人尷尬的;難處理的;棘手的

      Wouldn’t it seem awkward that was her first response -to have an unattached male in the house?

      (6) bad不明智的;錯誤的;不對的

      It is bad that so much bias should be shewn, but it is, I suppose, inevitable.

      (7) confusing令人困惑的;費解的;混亂的

      It was confusing to me that she did this, as she didn’t seem the type who needed reassurance of her intelligence.

      (8) crazy不理智的;愚蠢的;古怪的

      It’s just crazy that he thought he could get away with it.

      (9) criminal犯罪的;犯法的

      It is criminal that we would not spend money to put 2,000 families into existing public housing but rather spend millions on homeless hotels.

      (10) daft愚蠢的;不切實際的;古里古怪的

      I admit I remembered then, but I didn’t tell you because it would have sounded daft that I hadn’t told you before.

      (11) deplorable糟糕的;惡劣的;應受譴責的

      It is deplorable that a beautiful country like Yugoslavia, after breakup, should destroy itself by ethnic and territorial violence.

      (15) disgraceful丟臉的,可恥的,不光彩的

      It’s disgraceful that they have detained him for so long... 

      (16) disgusting完全不能接受的;可怕的

      It’s disgusting that the taxpayer is subsidising this project. 

      (17) disheartening令人灰心的;令人氣餒的

      It’s disheartening that holidays have become a retailer’s trap for the consumer and that we’ve lost their real meaning altogether.

      (18) dismaying 令人沮喪的

      It’s dismaying that some people are so thoughtless or selfish that they would willfully impede an investigation into a national tragedy.

      (19) disquieting不安的;焦急的;憂慮的

      But it is disquieting that the date of the start of the English county championship is still in dispute; some say the 1860s, some the 1890s.

      (20) distressing 使人痛苦的;令人苦惱的;使人憂慮的

      It is distressing that many of the problems with Hodge’s writings continue despite having been addressed by others.

      (21) disturbing引起煩惱的;令人不安的;引起恐慌的

      It is very disturbing that this information wasn’t brought up when it happened.

      (22) dreadful糟糕透頂的;令人不快的

      Of course, it’s dreadful that I spent most of my life in a dogmatic illusion.

      (23) frustrating令人灰心的;使人沮喪的;讓人懊惱的
