finish的用法注意

1. 表示“完成”，其后接動詞作賓語時，要用動名詞，不能用不定式。如：

He’s finished mending the car. 他修好了汽車。

I finished reading the book last night. 這本書我是昨晚看完的。

Have you finished cleaning the kitchen? 你廚房打掃完了嗎?

當(dāng) finish 之后的動名詞帶有賓語時，有時可省去動名詞（如果意義清楚的話）。如：

He has finished (doing) his work. 他把工作做完了。

2. 用作不及物動詞，表示“結(jié)束”或“完成”。如：

He didn’t finish in time. 他沒有及時完成。

The meeting will finish at 3 o’clock. 會議3點結(jié)束。

The party finished with a song. 晚會最后唱了首歌結(jié)束了。

3. 用過去分詞作表語，表示“做完了”“結(jié)束了”“不再有聯(lián)系了”。如：

At last she was finished too. 最后她也做完了。

I won’t be finished for another hour. 我還有一個小時才能完事。

有時還可表示“垮臺了”“失敗了”“完蛋了”等。如：

The scandal means he’s finished in politics. 這一丑聞意味著他在政治上已身敗名裂。

4. 注意以下兩個短語：

(1) finish up 吃光，用完；完成，結(jié)束

We finished up everything there was on the table. 我們把桌上的東西全吃完了。

It was midnight, and she still had not finished up. 都半夜了，可她還沒干完。

(2) finish with 以……作為結(jié)束；用完，完成；與……斷絕關(guān)系

What shall we have to finish the meal with? 這頓飯最后一道菜吃什么?

Have you finished with the newspaper? 報紙你不會看了吧?

Jane has finished with her new boyfriend. 簡已經(jīng)和她的新男友不再來往了。
