habit的用法與搭配習慣

1. 表示做某事的習慣，其后通常要接 of doing sth作定語，通常不接不定式。如：

I make a habit of never lending money to strangers. 我自己立下個規矩，從來不把錢借給生人。

類似下面這樣的句子雖然在habit后接了不定式，但不是定語，而是主語，注意句首使用的形式主語。如：

It is her habit to go for a walk after supper. 晚飯后散步是她的習慣。

It was not his habit to ask people for things. 他沒有向別人要東西的習慣。

2. 注意以下有用搭配：

(1) 表示具有做某事的習慣，通常與have, be in搭配。如：

Is it in the habit of biting people? 你的狗咬人嗎?

He has in the habit of rising early. 他有早起的習慣。

(2) 表示養成、沾染、形成做某事的習慣，通常與acquire, develop, fall into, form, get into, make等動詞搭配。如：

You need to form the habit of reading carefully. 你需要養成仔細閱讀的習慣。

I’ve got into the habit of switching on the TV as soon as I get home. 我已養成一到家就打開電視機的習慣。

It’s very easy to fall into the habit of smoking, but extremely difficult to stop. 要養成吸煙的習慣很容易，但要戒掉卻極其困難。

(3) 表示打破或戒除做某事的習慣，通常與break, get out of, get rid of, give up, kick等動詞搭配。如：

I wish I could get out of the habit of smoking. 我希望我能改掉吸煙的習慣。

You must break off [get rid of] the habit of telling lies. 你必須戒掉說謊的習慣。

3. 表示“出于習慣”，一般用介詞out of habit。如：

I sat in my old seat purely out of habit. 我完全是習慣性地坐到了我的老位子上。

有時也用from the habit。如：

I smoke only from habit; I wish I could break the habit. 我吸煙只是一種習慣，我希望改掉這個習慣。
