91. 中國人是一個勤勞勇敢的民族。

誤：The Chinese is a brave and hard-working people.

正：The Chinese are a brave and hard-working people.

析：the Chinese 泛指全體中國人，即“中華民族”，具有復數意義，用作主語時，謂語動詞要用復數。注意，不要認為表語是單數，謂語動詞就用單數，因為謂語是與主語的數保持一致，而不是與表語的數保持一致。

92. 媽媽為我買了兩套新衣服。

誤：Mother bought me two new clothes.

正：Mother bought me two new suits of clothes.

析：clothes 表示“衣服”是一個沒有單數形式的復數名詞，但是它卻不能與直接與數詞連用。要表示幾套衣服，可借助suit 來表示；若無需表明是幾套衣服，可用 a few, many, these, those 等修飾。

93. 我們用彩燈裝飾圣誕樹。

誤：We decorated the Christmas tree with coloured lights

正：We decorated the Christmas tree with coloured lights

析：漢語說“彩(色)……”，根據情況可以用 colour, coloured, colourful 來修飾相關的名詞，其區別是：colour 指它所修飾名詞能夠產生 colour 的效果，如：colour TV(彩電)，colour film(彩色電影)；coloured 用作定語指它所修飾的名詞具有 colour 的特征，如：coloured flag(彩旗)，coloured chalk(彩色粉筆)；而 colourful 用作定語則指顏色的多樣性或色彩的鮮艷性，意為“豐富多彩的”“多彩的”“艷麗的”，如：colourful wings(五顏六色的翅膀)，colourful clouds(彩云)。

94. 這個月他父母來過學校兩次。

誤：His parents have come to the school twice this month.

正：His parents have been to the school twice this month.

析：have come 只表示“已來”，不表示“來過”，要表示后者的意思應用 have been (to)。

95. 他是一家五星級賓館的廚師。

誤：He is cooker in a five-star hotel.

正：He is cook in a five-star hotel. (www.hz123456.com)

析：cook 用作動詞，意為“烹調”、“做飯菜”，它同時也可用作名詞，意為“廚師”。千萬不要認為 cooker 是“做飯菜的人”，其實它是指“做飯菜的東西”，即“炊具”。

96. 這位老人的耳朵很聾。

誤：The old man’s ears are very deaf.

正：The old man was very deaf.

析：說明一個耳聾，英語習慣上用“人”作主語，而不以“耳朵”作主語。又如：He is deaf in [of] one ear. 他有一只耳朵聾了。

97. 我們大家都累了，休息一會兒怎么樣?

誤：We are all tired. How about to have a rest?

正：We are all tired. How about having a rest?

析：How about...? 在此用于征求意見，意為“……怎么樣”，其后要接動名詞(因為 about 是介詞)。

98. 我收到了他的禮物，但我沒有接受。

誤：I accepted his present but I didn’t receive it.

正：I received his present but I didn’t accept it.

析：receive只表示客觀上的“收到”，而accept則表示主觀上的“接受”。

99. 我生病時，我姑媽替我料理家務。

誤：My aunt keeps the house for me when I am ill.

正：My aunt keeps house for me when I am ill.(http://ask.yygrammar.com/)

析：keep house 與 keep the house：前者指“料理家務”，后者指“呆在家里不外出”。比較：She will keep house until we come back. 我們回來前她負責看家。/ She will keep the house until we come back. 她會一直呆在家里等我們回來。

100. 我寫信來是想請你下周星期六來吃飯。

誤：I write to invite you to dinner next Saturday.

正：I write to ask you to dinner next Saturday.

析：按英語習慣，當面邀請人時，通常不有invite。又如要表示 “我想請你來參加晚會”，通常不能說成 I’d like to invite you to the party. 而應換成其他說法，如說 Would you like to come to the party?
