關于習慣上要接動名詞作賓語的動詞用法

■當及物動詞后面需要接另一個動詞作賓語時，有些習慣上要用不定式，有些習慣上要用動名詞，比如下面這些動詞習慣上就只接動名詞作賓語：

acknowledge 承認    admit 承認           advise 建議           allow 允許

■關于以上動詞的用法，注意以下幾點：

1. 先看看它們在具體語境中的用法：

She acknowledged having been at fault. 他承認自己錯了。

John has admitted breaking the window. 約翰已承認打碎了窗子。

I advise waiting a few more days. 我建議再等幾天。

They don’t allow parking. 他們不準停放汽車。

Do you anticipate meeting any trouble? 你預料會有麻煩嗎?

I appreciate being given this opportunity. 非常感謝給了我這個機會。

I crossed the street to avoid meeting him, but he saw me and came running towards me. 我橫穿馬路以便避開他,但他看到了我并朝我跑過來。

We bar playing cards for money. 我們禁止玩牌賭錢。

He considered giving a new course. 他考慮開一門新課。

Why have they delayed answering our letter? 他們為什么遲遲不回我們的信?

He denied having taken it. 他否認拿了它。

He described finding his mother lying on the floor. 他描述說發現他母親躺在地板上。

They will discuss giving further assistance to the oppressed peoples. 他們將討論給予被壓迫民族更多援助的問題。

Many teachers dislike marking piles of exercise books. 許多教師都厭煩批改大堆的作業。

Mary’s mother enjoys listening to music. 瑪麗的母親喜歡聽音樂。

We were lucky to escape being punished. 我們很幸運，沒有受罰。

Please excuse my opening your letter by mistake. 請原諒我誤拆了你的信。

Many of the shipyard workers face losing their jobs. 很多造船廠的工人都面臨失業。

I don’t fancy going for a walk in the rain. 我可不喜歡在雨中散步。

I finished reading the book last night. 這本書我是昨晚看完的。

The law forbids building on this land. 法律規定禁止在此處進行修建。

Please forgive my interrupting. 對不起，打攪了。

She gave up attempting to influence them. 她不再想法子影響他們了。

Try to imagine being on the moon. 設法想象你是在月球上。

Your duties will include putting the children to bed. 你的職責包括照顧孩子就寢。
