這個句末介詞不能省略

請看下面的題目：

It is too small a room for us __________.

A. to live               B. to live in            C. living                D. living in

此題應選B。從結構上看，句子前部的too small...應連用一個不定式，所以選項C，D不宜選擇。至于為什么要選B 而不選A，這是因為有些用作后置定語的不定式與它所修飾的名詞有動賓關系，此時若不定式是不及物動詞，則應在其后加上適當的介詞。如：

He has no pens to write with. 他沒有鋼筆寫字。

Give me a chair to sit on. 給我一把椅子坐。

He has a lot of things to attend to. 他有許多事要管。

I’ve to find a large bag to put these things in. 我得找一個大袋子來裝這些東西。

The child has no toys to play with. 這小孩沒有玩具玩。

He is a very nice person to work with. 他是個很好共事的人。

There is nothing (for us) to worry about. 沒什么值得發愁的。

Please give me some paper to write on. 請給我一些紙來寫字。

有時句子主語與其后的不定式有動賓關系，若不定式是不及物動詞，同樣要考慮加適當的介詞。如：

The room is too small for us to live in. 這房間太小，我們住不下。
