16. Forget (about) it.

(1) 用來(lái)回答感謝，意為：算不了什么；不用謝了。如：

A：Thank you very much for your help. 多謝你的幫助。

B：Forget about it. 不用謝。

(2) 用來(lái)回答道歉，意為：沒關(guān)系。如：

A：I’m sorry I broke your coffee cup. 對(duì)不起，我打破了你的咖啡杯。

B：Forget it. 沒關(guān)系。

(3) 表示不想提及或無(wú)關(guān)緊要，意為：忘了它吧；別提了；別放在心上。如：

A：What’s he got to do with it? 這跟他有什么關(guān)系?

B：All right, forget it. 好吧，別提了。

17. I’ll be glad to.

表示愉快的答應(yīng)或愿意幫忙，意為：我很高興做；我很樂意做。如：

A：Could you help me repair my bike? 請(qǐng)幫我修理我的自行車可以嗎?

B：Certainly. I’ll be glad to. 當(dāng)然可以，我很愿意。

有時(shí)也說(shuō) I’ll be happy to, 注意這類結(jié)構(gòu)中的 to不可省略。如：

A：I’ll be away on a business trip. Would you mind looking after my cat? 我要因公出差，請(qǐng)幫我照看一下我的貓，你介意嗎?

B：Not at all. I’ll be happy to. 一點(diǎn)不介意，我很樂意。

18. Help yourself.

(1) 用作招呼客人吃東西時(shí)的客套話，意為：請(qǐng)隨便吃；請(qǐng)吃……；別客氣。如：

Help yourself, Mr Green. 格林先生，請(qǐng)隨便吃。

Make yourself at home, and help yourself to anything you like. 請(qǐng)不要拘束，喜歡吃什么就吃什么。

(2) 表示客氣答應(yīng)請(qǐng)求，意為：請(qǐng)自便，自己拿吧! 如：

A：Do you think I could use your dictionary? 我可以用你的詞典嗎?

B：Yes, help yourself. 可以，自己拿吧。

A：Can I have a drink? 我可以喝杯酒嗎?

B：Help yourself. 請(qǐng)自己倒。

19. I can’t help it.

(1) 表示幫不上忙，意為：我也沒辦法；這不是我的錯(cuò)。如：

I can’t help it if the train is late. 要是火車晚點(diǎn)我也沒辦法。

(2) 表示控制不住某種情感或思想等，意為：我控制不�。晃胰滩蛔�；我沒法不……。如：

A：Why are you crying? 你為什么哭?

B：I can’t help it. 我忍不住。

20. It can’t be helped.

表示沒有辦法或幫不上忙，意為：無(wú)可挽回；這是無(wú)法避免的；實(shí)在沒辦法；只好這樣。如：

You’ve broken it now; it can’t be helped. 你把它打破了，已無(wú)法挽回。

We haven’t got enough money, and it can’t be helped. 我們沒有足夠的錢，這實(shí)在沒辦法。

21. Hold on!

(1) 用于打電話時(shí)，叫對(duì)方不要掛斷電話，意為：等一下；別掛斷；別放下話筒。如：

A：May I speak to Mr Black, please? 請(qǐng)找布萊克先生接電話好嗎?

B：Hold on, please. 請(qǐng)等一下。

(2) 用作電話用語(yǔ)以外的其它情況，叫對(duì)方等一下，意為：等一下。如：

Hold on. I can’t hear what you are saying. 等一等，我沒聽清你的話。

(3) 叫對(duì)方堅(jiān)持下去(即不要放棄或停止等)，意為：堅(jiān)持下去；繼續(xù)下去。如：

Hold on! When the PLA men come, we’ll find a way out. 堅(jiān)持下去! 等解放軍一來(lái)，我們就有辦法了。

22. How so?

表示驚異、納悶、不理解等，意為：為什么(會(huì)是這樣呢)? 為什么(這么說(shuō))? 如：

A：The party was a failure. 晚會(huì)開得不成功。

B：How so? 為什么?

23. Make yourself at home.

用來(lái)叫對(duì)方不要拘束，意為：請(qǐng)隨便點(diǎn)；請(qǐng)別拘束；就像在家里一樣。如：

Make yourself at home. I’ll be back in half an hour. 請(qǐng)別拘束，半小時(shí)后我就回來(lái)。

If you get to my house before I do, help yourself to a drink and make yourself at home. 要是你比我先到我家，你就先喝一杯，隨便點(diǎn)。
