2. 有時(shí)可用作表語，表示某種情況很普遍。如：

3. 有時(shí)用作名詞(用作主語)或用作連詞(引導(dǎo)狀語從句)。如：

Everywhere seemed to be silent. 萬籟俱寂。

The dog followed me everywhere I went. 無論我走到哪，這條狗就跟到哪。

◆examination n.

1. 表示“檢查”，注意以下與動(dòng)詞和介詞的常用搭配：

He made an examination of the room. 他檢查了房間。

We carried out a medical examination. 我們進(jìn)行了體格檢查。

2. 表示具體的一次一次的“檢查”或“考試”，它通常是可數(shù)名詞，但有時(shí)表示抽象意義的檢查或考試，則為不可數(shù)名詞。如：

Admission to this school is by examination. 進(jìn)入該校須經(jīng)過考試。
