(1) 在“half of＋名詞或代詞” 結(jié)構(gòu)后動詞的數(shù)與該結(jié)構(gòu)中名詞或代詞的數(shù)保持一致。如：

Half (of) the apples are bad. 這些蘋果當(dāng)中有一半是壞的。

Half (of) the apple is bad. 這個蘋果有半邊是壞的。

Half of them have left. 他們當(dāng)中一半人已離開了。

(2) 對于“one and a half＋復(fù)數(shù)名詞”以及“a＋單數(shù)名詞＋anda half”用作主語：國內(nèi)出版的書幾乎都認為一律用單數(shù)謂語，但近年來一些國外的權(quán)威詞書(如《朗文當(dāng)代英語詞典》、 夸克等的《英語語法大全》等) 都認為其謂語要根據(jù)該結(jié)構(gòu)中名詞的單復(fù)數(shù)而分別使用單數(shù)或復(fù)數(shù)。如：

One and a half months have passed since I saw him. / Amonth and a half has passed since I saw him. 我已有一個半月沒看到他了。

3. 漢語說“半小時”，英語一般用 half an hour 或 a half hour, 只是在特別準(zhǔn)確地講時，才說 thirty minutes； 但表示“半年”，通常用 six months, 則較少用 half a year。

4. 表示把某物分成兩半，英語可用 cut sth in half或 cut sthinto halves, 但一般不說 cut sth in halves [into half]
