用法比較復(fù)雜，以下幾點(diǎn)須注意:

1. 表示“穿著”、“戴著”，其后通常接顏色詞或表示衣服的詞(一般不用冠詞)。如：

There we saw a boy in black (jacket). 在那兒我們看到一個(gè)穿黑衣(茄克衣)的男孩。

He is a wolf in sheep’s clothing. 他是只披著羊皮的狼。

2. 表示說(shuō)話、書(shū)寫(xiě)、繪畫(huà)等的途徑或所用的原料，意為“用”、“以”。如：

We talked in English. 我們用英語(yǔ)交談。

He wrote the letter in ink (code). 他用鋼筆(代碼)寫(xiě)此信。

注：with 也可表示“用”、“以”，但一般是指用工具或手段。如：

write with a pencil 用鉛筆寫(xiě) (比較 write in pencil)

write with a pen 用鋼筆寫(xiě) (比較 write in ink)

3. 用于 in doing sth, 意為“在……時(shí)”、“在做……的過(guò)程中”(=when/while)。如：

In doing this, we can improve our English. 當(dāng)我們這樣做時(shí)，可以提高我們的英語(yǔ)水平。

In attempting to save a child from drowning, she nearlylost her life. 她在搶救溺水的孩子時(shí)，自己幾乎喪了命。

4. 用以引出某人，表示能力、素質(zhì)、身體等包含在其中。如：

You will always find a good friend in me. 我永遠(yuǎn)是你的好朋友。

We have lost a good teacher in Jim. 我們失去了吉姆這樣一位好教師。

◆include v.

1. 表示“包括”，是及物動(dòng)詞。如：

The list includes my name. 這個(gè)表上包括我的名字。

Does the price include VAT? 這價(jià)錢是否包括增值稅在內(nèi)?

He includes me among his friends. 他把我當(dāng)作他的朋友。

注：后接動(dòng)詞，通常用動(dòng)名詞。如：

Your duties will include putting the children to bed. 你的職責(zé)包括照顧孩子就寢。

2. 比較以下句子：

我們所有的人都去，包括老師在內(nèi)。

正：All of us went, including the teacher.

正：All of us went, the teacher included.

定價(jià)10美元，包括郵資。

正：Price $10，postage included.

正：Price $10，including postage.

◆increase n. / v.

1. 表示“增加”、“增長(zhǎng)”，可用作名詞或動(dòng)詞，主要指數(shù)量或程度等方面的增加。表示在某一方面的增加，一般介詞 in。比較：

It has increased 20 percent in price. 它的價(jià)格已上漲20%。

Increase in population cuased a shortage of food. 人口增加導(dǎo)致食品短缺。

2. 表示增加了多少，若是用作動(dòng)詞，一般與介詞 by連用(有時(shí)可省略)；若是用作名詞，一般與介詞 of 連用，比較：(www.hz123456.com)

數(shù)目增加了1000。

正：The number increased by 1000.

正：The number had an increase of 1000.

這個(gè)城市的人口增加了五個(gè)百分點(diǎn)。

正：The population of this city has increased (by) 5 per cent.

正：The population of this city shows an increase of 5 per cent.

3. 表示增加到多少，一般用介詞 to。如：

His salary has been increased to $3000. 他的工資已增加到3000美元。
