The library is rich in historical books. 這個(gè)圖書館擁有大量史書。

◆ride v. & n.

1. 用作動(dòng)詞，除表示騎自行車或騎某種動(dòng)物(如馬，大象，駱駝等)之外，也可指乘坐車船等。如：

I ride to school on my bike. 我騎自行車上學(xué)。

He likes to ride (on) a camel. 他喜歡騎駱駝。

I get sick when I ride (in) a bus. 我坐公共汽車時(shí)暈車。

2. 用作名詞，表示“乘坐”，是可數(shù)名詞；有時(shí)它還可表示“乘坐的路程”，也是可數(shù)名詞。如：

We’ve had a pleasant ride. 我們騎馬(或乘車)玩得很高興。

Can I have a ride on your bike? 我可以騎你的自行車嗎?

It’s about a 15-minute bus ride. 大約15分鐘的公共汽車路程。

◆right adj.，adv. & n.

1. 用作形容詞，表示“正確的”、“對(duì)的”等，比較同義句型：

你把汽車賣掉是對(duì)的。

正：You are right in selling the car.

正：You are right to sell the car.

正：It is right for you to sell the car.

你做這件事是對(duì)的。

正：It’s right for you to do this. (側(cè)重動(dòng)作或行為方面)

正：It’s right of you to do this. (側(cè)重道義方面)

2. 用作名詞，表示“權(quán)利”，比較以下同義句型：

他有權(quán)保持沉默。

正：He has the [a] right to keep silent.

正：He has the [a] right of keeping silent.

注：上面第一句后接不定式比第二句后接 of doing 更常見。

3. 用作副詞，表示“就在”、“恰好”或表示“一直”、“直接”等，通常都用于修飾其它副詞或介詞短語(yǔ)，以加強(qiáng)語(yǔ)氣。如：

He was standing right in the middle of the room. 他剛好站在屋子中間。

You should come right home after school. 你放學(xué)后應(yīng)該直接回家。

◆ring v.

1. 表示“按(鈴)”、“鈴響”等，可用作及物或不及物動(dòng)詞，可指鈴自動(dòng)響或被按響。如：

Ring (your bell) for the nurse. 按鈴叫護(hù)士來(lái)。

Who is ringing (at) the bell? 誰(shuí)在按門鈴?

The telephone is ringing. 電話鈴在響。

2. 表示給某人打電話，ring 可用作及物動(dòng)詞，不要受漢語(yǔ)影響在ring 后加介詞 to。如：

我今晚給我打電話。

誤：I will ring to you tonight.

正：I will ring you tonight.

注：有時(shí) ring 的賓語(yǔ)可以不是人，而是號(hào)碼或地方。如：

Please ring the number again. 請(qǐng)?jiān)贀苓@個(gè)號(hào)碼。

I’ll ring the hospital at once. 我馬上給醫(yī)院打電話。
