如何理解時態(tài)呼應中的“主將從現(xiàn)”

有朋友在本站“答疑中心”詢問：如何理解時態(tài)呼應中的“主將從現(xiàn)”。

其實，英語語法書上沒有“主將從現(xiàn)”這一語法術語，只是我們的英語教師在教學上為方便學生（主要是初學者）的理解和記憶，特地創(chuàng)造了這個術語。它的意思是：當主句是一般將來時時，其相應的時間狀語從句、條件狀語從句、讓步狀語從句等習慣上要用一般現(xiàn)在時替代將來意義，而不能直接使用一般將來時。

一、通常情況

1. “主將從現(xiàn)”見于時間狀語從句

As soon as I get through with my work I’ll join you. 我工作一做完就來找你們。

As soon as my divorce goes through, we’ll get married. 一俟我的離婚申請獲準，我們就結婚。

Before they drive any of the buses, they will have to pass a special test. 然而在駕駛公共汽車前,他們必須通過專門測驗。

My mother will be very angry with me when she finds out where I’ve been. 我母親要是知道我到過那地方一定會大怒。

We’ll pay you half up front and the other half when you’ve finished the job. 我們先付給你一半錢，剩下的一半等你干完了再付。

2. “主將從現(xiàn)”見于條件狀語從句

If (it is) necessary I will come at 6. 如有必要，我6點鐘來。

If today is Wednesday, the day after tomorrow will be Friday. 今天要是星期三，后天就是星期五。

If you train hard, you’ll make a good footballer. 你要刻苦訓練就能成為優(yōu)秀的足球運動員。

If you add too much liquid the mixture will not be thick enough. 加入的液體太多，混合液的濃度就不夠。

If past experience is anything to go by, the plane will be late. 過去的經(jīng)驗要是還靠得住的話，這飛機會晚點的。

3. “主將從現(xiàn)”見于讓步狀語從句

We’ll go even if it rains. 即使下雨我們也去。

He’ll come even if he’s i11. 他即使生病也會來。

He’ll definitely win, even if he falls over. 即使他跌倒了，他也必勝。

Even if he had the money, he wouldn’t buy it. 他即使有錢也不會買它。

I’ll try to come, though I doubt if I’ll be there on time. 我盡量來，但不敢說能準時到.

He’ll probably say no, though it’s worth trying. 他很可能不同意，但不妨去試探一下。

二、非通常情況

1. 主句是祈使句，如何理解“主將從現(xiàn)”

有時主句不是用的一般將來時，而是祈使句。由于祈使句本身表示將來意義，與一般將來時性質(zhì)相似，所以此時的狀語從句也習慣上用一般現(xiàn)在時表將來——這可以視為“主將從現(xiàn)”的一種變體。如：

Put it in your diary before you forget. 用記事本記下免得忘了。

Switch the light off before you change the bulb. 換燈泡前把燈關上。

Wait until the paint has completely dried. 一直等到油漆完全乾了。

Continue until you reach the end of the road. 繼續(xù)走，一直走到路的盡頭。

Avoid bending at the waist when lifting heavy objects. 舉重物時不要彎腰。

Do not open the door when the train is in motion. 列車行駛時不要打開車門。

If you are unsure of your HIV status, consider having a test. 如果你不能確定自己是否感染了艾滋病病毒，就要考慮去作檢查了。

If you have varicose veins, consider wearing elastic support hose. 如果患了靜脈曲張，可以考慮穿彈力護腿襪。
