memory的可數性以及相關搭配

1. 表示“記憶（力）”，若指具體某人的記憶（力），通常為可數名詞，若指抽象意義的記憶（力），通常為不可數名詞。如：

The boy has a good (bad) memory. 這孩子記憶力好（不好）。

Memory is a quality which is not highly developed in most animals. 記憶這種特性在大多數動物身上都不發達。

表示“對……的記憶”，一般用介詞 for。如：

John has a good memory for names (faces, figures). 約翰對人的名字（面孔、數字）有很好的記憶力。

2. 注意正確理解以下各句：

His name escaped my memory. 他的名字我記不起了。

If my memory serves me right (=If my memory doesn’t fail me), he is 55 years old this year. 如果我沒記錯的話，他今年55歲了。

3. 用于 in memory of, 意為“為了紀念”（注意不用冠詞）。如：

They’re going to erect a monument in memory of the dead. 他們打算樹碑紀念死者。

She set up the charitable trust in memory of her father. 她設立了慈善信托基金以紀念她的父親。
